Halogen-free variants are available for use in areas with special fire protection requirements. They are self-extinguishing in accordance with regulation UL94 and do not release any halogens that would form aggressive acids if combined with water used to extinguish fire. The halogen-free versions also fulfil the requirements pertaining to electrical equipment in railway vehicles.
